It has been several years since I've opted to look at the VF materials as I was turned off to their materials for a few reasons quite a while ago. But when a friend loaned me a few audio teachings to listen to, I was thrilled and impressed. Then when I read a book that they published, "So Much More", I was again very excited and impressed! I opted to listen to a few more audio teachings when it was like being hit between the eyes with a bat - such ignorance, hatred and well - I don't know what other word to use so I won't use any. The whole government intervention malarky doesn't jive with us either. There is a place for righteous people to be involved - yes. But there's a line to be drawn between transformation being a personal one and transformation being a national one. One will come if the other comes first and is genuine, not merely apparent. We have enough apparent as it is... Bereanwife ~ :) I'm watching too. But I think I have a better grasp of how one can be so supersessionist and yet preach the Law. It completely baffled us for a while but I think that we're grasping the concept. Still, I'm not sure how they define "the Law" and what parts they consider "valid for them today". I too agree with some of their family related materials, but I cannot get over their promotion and exaltation of Robert Dabney. Dabney's writings are clearly racist. Perhaps Doug Phillips is sifting through Dabney's writing and throwing out the chaff, but he has never come out and disclaimed any of Dabney's thoughts. I also feel that VF political stance is Dominionist. I don't see any biblical support that the church should be transforming the culture through govermental interventions (and I have a big desire to have the government out of my personal life)... we are to be changing the world one heart at a time.
